MEET DUBBY
William Davis James is W.D.’s grandson. Nicknamed Dubby because of how much he looked like his Uncle “Dub”. Born 12-2-2018 to D.G. Gafs-James and husband David Michael James, Dubby was a bright spot in his mother’s ongoing storm of depression and anxiety. He was loved so deeply by his parents and grandparents that at a very early age the family saw the raw and innocent spirit in this small child.
His mother prayed daily that Dubby would one day meet his name-sake Uncle Dub. Her brother who she hadn’t spoken much to in years but never lived a day without a broken heart of his absence. He was sober now and from all reports, doing well, but D.G. had resigned herself that watching him self-destruct was too much for her. She was not ready to let go of the past and trust that it wouldn’t happen again, and she would not “knowingly” share that heartbreak with her son.
That all changed in August of 2019, when answering the call from his sister, Dub was the only person that could help D.G. out of her emotional state. The impact was immediate and profound. The family was reunited, and Dub was able to meet Little Dubby. Their bond was one that no human words could describe. It was as if they knew each other already. Dubby, at only 9 months old stretched out his arms and never let go.
As the years went on Dubby watched the family grow a community. Giving time, energy and resources to others without any expectation for something in return. He knew at a very young age he wanted to follow in their footsteps. One day while walking with his Uncle Dub, he said “I want to be just like you”. After knowingly chuckling at the true gravity of that statement, Dub said, oh yeah, and what do you mean by that? Little Dub looks up and says, “I want to help others grow and learn”. So Dubby’s corner was created.
Dubby’s corner is focused on offering fun and inventive ways to learn while always keeping God close. While it is in it’s infancy, Dubby loved the alphabet and decided to teach others about letters, especially after asking Uncle Dub where letters came from hearing a wonderful and charming story that has been linked for your enjoyment. You can also get a nursery rhyme, paperback or E-book copy in the Amazon link provided.
Who knows where Dubby’s corner will go, but rest assured it will be an amazing adventure through the imagination and wonder of a child’s mind.
